San Diego Siren
Currently living and studying in San Diego, this blog was created to aid my fellow collegiate comrades, as well as any adventurous souls, in fully capturing the unique experience of life in this seaside city. I am a native southern Californian with a lust for adventure and experiences. As the San Diego Siren, I will catalog my experiences in order for those living or visiting the area to make the most of their experience here.
  1. Looking for authentic, mexican street food without spending a fortune?  Check out Puesto  located in the heart of La Jolla Village on Wall St.  Puesto has a similar set-up and ordering style as Chipotle, but what makes Puesto unique is its menu. Puesto offers more authentic mexican options to add to your tacos or bowls including:  cactus, zucchini flower, corn truffle, grilled salmon, grilled pineapple, and tinga (hibiscus, chipotle, onion salsa) to name a few.  But don’t be alarmed, Puesto also offers standard mexican options (rice, black beans, salsa, guacamole etc.). Prices range from $7 to $12 dollars.  Portions are larger than chipotle (more bang for your buck!).

Siren reccomendation:  guisado bowl with grilled salmon, zucchini flower, cactus, tinga, pineapple, black beans, brown rice, sweet corn and a little guacamole!
